settings – no sites found
-
Hi,
In wordpress.com/settings/general my website http://www.annabelethomas.com does not show up however the site is live and active.
As a result I cannot hide it as I would like to make it private for a time.
Any advice would be much appreciated as I’m not sure why wordpress.com and my website are not synchronising as they used to be connected.
Many Thanks
Annabel

Hello @annabelethomas,
Checking the domain name, seems your site is self hosted on BlueHost now. That means it’s no longer connected to WordPress.com.
However, while trying to get you a link to login to your back-end (WP Admin) it takes me back to WordPress.com.
Could your site be linked to WordPress.com via JetPack?
I’m going to tag this post so you can get more help!

Hi @solybarr,
Yes it does look like JetPack is linking my site to WordPress.com
How do I reconnect my website to WordPress.com directly as previously I was able to view information through wordpress.com
In the meantime I’ve downloaded a plugin to protect my site. Apologies for the confusion I thought by using bluehost I was using wordpress.

Hi there,
The site at http://www.annabelethomas.com is a self-hosted WordPress site. That site is on Bluehost’s servers, not ours, and the only way to connect that site to your WordPress.com account is via Jetpack. I don’t know what you mean by connecting it to WordPress.com directly – there’s no other way to connect it except via Jetpack.
Jetpack allows you to manage your site’s content, and some settings but not all, through the WordPress.com interface. For anything not available in our interface you need to log into the site’s WP-Admin dashboard instead.
Self-hosted WordPress sites cannot be set to private like WordPress.com sites. On a self-hosted site you need a plugin, as you’ve already done.
