In the Settings > Discussion > Other Comment settings there is this part that confuses me:
Enable threaded (nested) comments levels deep
Break comments into pages with top level comments per page and the page displayed by default
Comments should be displayed with the comments at the top of each pageI always had the first option (Enable threaded/nested? comments.
Then today I decided to experiment with the second one about breaking comments into pages. However, when I checked that option and clicked Save, I saw no difference when I went back to the Home Page and checked the icons for the Commenters. Therefore my question: What does this mean: ”Break comments into pages with top level comments per page and the page displayed by default“ What would I be SEEING if I format my discussion comments this way??

A little wish list of mine:
That all of the comments would be right there on the Home Page underneath the post, as opposed to the way it is now, with all the comments accessible only if one clinks the link.

If you get a lot of comments though, it becomes a burden for your readers since they may have to page down a long ways to get to your next post. I’ve seen blogs that get 350-500 comments per post – sometimes more – and having comments for the posts on the main page simply is not a good idea. Raincoaster as I remember has a post with over 1400 comments.
If they would implement it so that the viewer could click on a link to expand the comments and then collapse them after they looked at them, that might be alright.
