Setup with Cloudflare
-
Hello,
I want to make sure I’m setting up our domain correctly. We use Cloudflare and have been very happy with their service. I’m not looking to change my DNS settings at this time to map the domain. If you could provide the A record information or an alternative setup that would be greatly appreciated. If I’m missing something please let me know.
Best,

Hi Nathan,
Could you let us know a little more about what you are looking to do exactly?
If you want to connect a domain registered elsewhere to protopiacom.wordpress.com, you will need one of our paid plans.
In the checkout, you’d add the domain in question and, if you do not wish to change the nameservers, we will provide you with the correct A record. If we can understand what exactly you are trying to achieve, we can advise better.

Hey there, thanks for the help.
I was reading the support article about how to map a domain and it read:
“We strongly recommend that you use nameservers to point to WordPress.com. However, in some cases the domain registrar will only accept IP addresses. In those cases, you will want to contact our support team to get the IP addresses.”
If the A records will be displayed at checkout then that will most likely solve the issue. I might suggest updating the support documentation around this for more clarity in the future.
Are the A records the best path forward with domains registered at Cloudflare? They don’t have an option to assign the DNS records that I’m aware of / their service is based on the assumption of managing the DNS on their platform.
Really appreciate the help,

Hi Nathan:
It looks like Cloudflare has WordPress.com specific instructions here that may be helpful and might answer those questions:
Otherwise, you could move your domain registration to WordPress.com and avoid this unusual setup altogether! You can read about how to move your domain to WordPress.com here:
