Share Button NOT working for future posts…HELP!

I’ve read a number a the topics regarding the Share button, Add this, etc however, when I attempted to put the code in the bottom of my post and set the post to go ‘live’ at midnight, the next morning the Share this button does NOT work.
I’ve got a feeling it has to do the fact that I have to make my post go ‘live’ FIRST then past the Share button into the post. Correct?
If so, this isn’t gonna work as my blog http://jcrylequotes.com/ is a “quotes blog” where my posts are set days in advance.
Please help.

Yes, your assumption is correct. The way around this is to set the post to Private before publishing it, publish it, copy the URL and use that URL in the GetSocial links or whatever you use. That’s because the URL of the preview is in a different format than the published form.
I’m not familiar with Add This, etc, but it’s possible that you could schedule the post, hit Publish, and then copy the URL, which might then be in the proper style; it won’t be until AFTER you hit the Publish button. As long as it’s in the form:
http://jcrylequotes.com/year/month/day/blog-post-title/
that is the form you want to use. -
Thanks raincoaster. I’ll probably ending up converting to WordPress.org and going the plug in route. Just too many hoops to jump through if a blog is like mine where most posts are set to go “live” several hours later and sometimes a full week. Thanks for the help though.

You’re welcome. There’s another reason WP.org might be better for you; there has been an error sometimes at Wp.com where scheduled posts like yours do NOT go out on the RSS feed at all. This will drastically impair your email and RSS subscribers. I don’t know if this has happened to your blog, but if all your posts are scheduled, it’s a risk.
