Share buttons are collapsed into a single 'menu' button
-
Hi there–
I know this is a user-induced issue: a month ago I configured my blog to collapse all of the share buttons into a single ‘menu’ button (hover over it and you get all the share buttons). That seems to confuse people a bit, so I want to go ‘conventional’ and show all of the share buttons. I’ve searched and searched for where I made the choice, but cannot find how to specify that I want to swap the ‘menu’ button for all the individual share buttons.
Help appreciated!

Try this:
Go to Dashboard>Settings>Sharing
Look for Enabled Services. You should see a box to the right with all the services you’ve selected. Click each service icon and drag out of this box, back into Available Services, then re-drag them into Enabled Services. You may be able to just drag them out of the “Share” box into Enabled, but I had trouble with that. Routing them back into Available, then Enabled did work.
Don’t forget to also click “Save” at the bottom of this page.

Thanks for the super-quick reply. Followed your intuitive directions to a tee, but I still have a ‘menu’ button rather than the individual buttons. I vividly remember making the choice to replace the individual share buttons with a single “pull down” menu button … but I cannot find where that selection is made. One would think it would be under Dashboard>Settings>Sharing …

Once the share buttons are out of the Share Pull Down box, they should how up individually.

Indeed, the ‘collapsed’ share button *does* work: when you click on it all of the share buttons appear. I am trying to revert to the “classic” look & feel of simply having all of the share buttons in a row on my pages. That was how it worked before I “out clevered” myself and switched to the collapsed share button.

That’s what I’m saying. Once you remove the icons from the Enabled Share Pull Down box, and added them back without also putting them in the menu pull down (the gray box on the right), they will only show up as individual icons on your posts, and not in the collapsed share button.

Yup, that is exactly what I did:
* Go to Dashboard>Settings>Sharing
* Drag the icons out of Enabled Services and back to Available
* Hit Save
* Preview the page: no sharing buttons of any kind.
* Go to Dashboard>Settings>Sharing
* Drag the icons out of Available and back to Enabled
* I can see that the “Live Preview” has the single collapsed button :-(
* Hit Save
* Still stuck with the collapsed button.VERY much appreciate the fast feedback and help!

Question: given that I cannot find the selection between collapsed and individual buttons on the “master settings” … might this choice be buried under the specific post/page settings? I’ve looked and cannot find it …

OK, I’m an idiot. And I’ve run tech support teams, so I’m embarrassed too. I didn’t recognize the difference between dragging the share icons from Available into Enabled versus Hidden Behind Menu. All is well. Thanks for the help … and the patience.

No problem. I’m not at all tech savvy, so my explanations are usually more confusing than helpful. Glad it all worked out.
