Share buttons dead only on posts

    On my pages the share buttons work; on my posts they just sit there stone dead. In SETTINGS, they are supposedly activated on both pages and posts

    Hi there,

    It looks like this might be a bug with your theme. I can replicate this on another site if I have 1) Related Posts enabled, and 2) the Like button disabled on a post. If I edit the post to have the Like button appear, or if I disable Related Posts, this no longer happens. But it only appears to affect this theme.

    I’ve reported this to our theme developers, but the Chateau theme you’re using was retired almost two years ago. When a theme is retired it means it only gets further updates for security patches and critical bugs, and this might not qualify, meaning this might not be something that will be fixed.

    Your welcome to keep on using Chateau, but as it’s no longer actively maintained it will break at some point, so this might be a good time to start looking for a different theme.

    Thanks so much for this. It worked just fine.

    I’m pretty sure it is a software bug, because, when one hits one of the Share buttons, the cursor hops unexpectedly to the title of “Related Posts”. I switched off the display of Related Posts and the Share functions instantly worked on posts as well.

    As to the Chateau theme, it seemed so beautifully elegant to me that I fell for it immediately five years ago. I would regard it a crying shame if it were shut down. It seemed to me, and still does, as the obvious choice for a serious subject and for formal subject presentations. Losing “Related Posts” is simply a price to pay to retain a seriously elegant theme.

    Thank you. We’ll pass that along to our theme developers.

    For what it’s worth, we’ll generally allow folks to continue using whatever theme they have activated, though we stop developing new features for it, and bugs like this don’t get as much attention.

    You’re welcome to continue using Chateau until another theme suits you better.

    I’ve had confirmation from our theme developers that in this case we won’t be able to fix this bug.

    As @supernovia said above, you’re welcome to continue using your theme, but I do want to suggest a few others that, to me at least, have a similar feel to Chateau and that might work for you:
