Share Buttons Tally Incorrect
-
So there are no avenues for contacting Facebook developers?
Whom do you contact at Facebook if you have questions?
-
It looks like the only support Facebook offers is through Help Center here:
https://www.facebook.com/help/
However, I did a little more digging since it looks like contacting Facebook wasn’t going be an option for you. It looks like the http/https issue hasn’t been entirely resolved when the share uses the shortlink for your post. Publicize automatically uses the shortlink, so any posts shared to Facebook before the move to https will be affected.
Our developers are working on this currently and I’ll let you know as soon as we have a fix in place. Sorry it took so long for me to figure out what was happening; I completely forgot to check the share counts for your shortlinks.

I’m glad you discovered this and you must get it fixed ASAP!
Look at this page – it had over 900 on the counter, now it’s 0
And I’m putting WordPress on notice – this page has over 7,000 on the FB counter – watch it go to zero in 3………2………….1

I’m having similar issues, and I can’t figure out what’s going on. I know someone shared my blog post on Facebook, but it doesn’t show in the Facebook share count on my blog post. Also, my stats show 9 Facebook shares on 8 different posts. I can’t find a single one in the share count on the blog posts. It seems as though Facebook’s share count is turned off, but Twitter’s is working just fine. Appreciate any help.

Hi lborengasser! I’ll follow up with you in your other thread:
-
I have the same problem. It seems it’s a HTTP/HTTPS issue : https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/facebook-and-twitter-lost-numbers-https?replies=5
-
And yes, the aforementioned blog post with 7,000 FB likes has now dropped to 4,000 – https://heatherclemenceau.wordpress.com/2014/11/22/this-is-horse-slaughter-in-canada/
-
I just took a look at the posts you referenced. The ‘In Memoriam’ post seems to have it’s counts back.
The ‘horse slaughter’ post is showing 3,700 + 848 shares through the Facebook share button tester here:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/share-button
Our developers are still working on reaching out to Facebook about this gap in their share count algorithm. Hopefully we’ll get good news on this soon.
