Share & Like buttons have disappeared on my posts
-
The share & like buttons have disappeared on my posts, or at least on the blog I have been most active on. They are still visible on my other two blogs.
This is the blog I am having issues with: https://thevaleofsoulmaking.wordpress.com/
I have dumped my cache several times and have viewed all three blogs in IE, Chrome, & Mozilla as well as a second machine. Still, I am unable to view the share & like feature on my posts.
I have gone to Settings/Sharing several times. The share features are still enabled by default and I am able to activate the features on the front page and other aspects of my blog. I have tried toggling the features, but I still cannot view them on the individual posts.
That said, I have also gone to the edit page of the posts. The sharing features are enabled on the posts. Again, I have tried toggling the feature, but I still cannot view them on individual posts.
I may have inadvertently hit something last night when I made a post and yet I do not know what it was. The posts showed fine that morning. Aside from the fact that I have recently been most active on this particular blog, it seems odd that I can view the features on my other two blogs and yet not this one.
I am at a bit of a loss. I have experienced glitches before and they have usually worked their selves out, however, since I have tried everything that I can think of, I wish someone would look into it please.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I also do not see the sharing buttons in single view of individual posts. I do see them on your site’s front page and in a search returns.
Just to confirm, in your Sharing settings, the box next to “Posts” is currently ticked?
-
Thank you for replying.
I currently have Sharing checked to show on all pages except for Media and, yes, i do have it ticked to “show on posts.” I also made sure it was checked on the post’s edit page. I have toggled the feature in both the settings as well as the post edit page with no luckl, and yet the features show fine on my other two blogs (linked to on my front page) one of which uses the very same theme.
I even played with the feature on my other two blogs and they change & display fine, but no matter what I do I cannot get them to display on the post’s page on this particular blog.
I’ve checked and re-checked and I don’t think I’ve overlooked anything. I don’t know what else to do except bring the problem to the forum and hopefully someone has a solution or ask that an engineer take a look at it.

Thank you.
I might add that I tapped on “Publicize” in Sharing which took me to a different screen, where I toggled to “Sharing Buttons” and re-confirmed what I had already checked on the original Sharing page, and okayed it.
Still, there was no change.

I was going to make a post but then I saw this – I’m having the exact same problem and my blog also uses the button theme.
Every blog using the button theme I’ve come across is also missing share and like buttons on posts, but they’re appearing on other themes. -
Thanks for that info @idleemma – I can confirm that the sharing buttons are missing from single post view on my craft site using the Button theme.
Also no sharing buttons appear on Pages on my craft site although the appropriate box is ticked in Sharing and enabled in the Sharing module.
We’ll need Staff to look into this and this thread has been tagged for their attention.
If you come across other similar forum posts from other Button theme users, please direct them to this thread. Thanks.

Offhand I don’t remember the name of the theme, but I use the very same theme on my prose blog and the features are showing:
In fact, I didn’t even have any of the site sharing icons on it until I went into settings and began playing with them after I started have issues with the other blog. But they appear to work fine on my prose blog.
-
No, I’m sorry, I do use a different theme on my prose blog. My mistake I apologize. If it is an issue with the theme, do I have any other options except to change it? Or accept it?
-
Hi @charlzcoakley , As far as we know only the Button theme is currently affected by this issue.
Your two sites are indeed using different themes and changing themes on thevaleofsoulmaking.wordpress.com would likely resolve the issue for you.
-
Of course, if you want to stay with the Button theme, you can wait for Staff to fix the issue. :)
-
I was afraid you would say that. lol I may wait a couple of days and see if it sorts itself out, however, I don’t suppose it will and I will wind up having to change the theme. I thought I’d gotten away from Tumbr, oh well.
Thank you.

Honestly, I would rather wait for the staff to fix the issue. Changing themes can be so much work. I mean–if the staff is going to attempt to fix the issue, I wasn’t sure if they were or not.
One of the reasons I left Tumblr and came back to WordPress, was because changing themes on Tumblr was becoming an everyday affair and I had grown tired of their–non-maintenance. In all the time I have used WordPress, I have really had very few problems with themes.
If they are going to attempt to fix the issue, I will wait. I prefer this theme for this particular blog. And I have more faith in WordPress than I do any other site so I will wait it out.
Thank you very much.

Hi there,
It appears that when a developer tried to fix another bug in Button it created this bug instead. That’s unfortunately, an easy thing to happen in the world of code.
Our theme developers are working hard to fix this bug, and I’ll let you know here once it’s fixed. For now I need to ask you to please be patient while we work on this.
-
Anyone else using Button coming across this thread don’t need to post here. Once we fix it, it will be fixed for all sites, so just subscribe to this thread so you’ll see when we update it re. a fix.

I understand, believe me, it isn’t my first blog and it’s exactly the reason I stay with WordPress,s.
The fact that Support acknowledges the bug says a lot about the integrity of blogging on WordPress. There are many “blogging” sites where Support would push the glitch off on the blogger.
I have had glitches on WordPress before, not many, and yet we have always worked them out. I trust this bug will be no more of an inconvenience than they have ever been.
Thank you.

To everyone I have referred here concerning the missing Sharing Buttons on the Button theme, there’s no need to add to this post.
