Share this: email function without subscription

Can the Share this: email function be set to forward one post without creating a subscription?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes. By clicking on the “email” option on a single post, you are sending the single post via email to whatever email address you enter. It is similar to email functions on other sites, where only that particular article or page is emailed to the recipient. It does not set up a subscription.
(This assumes you mean the email option that’s available in the sharing options on a single post or page in wordpress.com — similar to the “print” button or the facebook, twitter, etc., share buttons.)

I used it on a single post page and was emailed “Your subscription has been activated!”.
Maybe I didn’t set it up correctly. I didn’t see any alternatives for email and it appears on the bottom of pages so I will have a closer look.
Thanks

Ooops, I get it. The subscription is exclusively to the single post and its comments, it does not include other posts or comments. I was thinking it was a variation of the subscription widget for the entire blog.
