Shared Facebook posts not displaying the featured image.

  I use WordPress’s share feature to send my posts to Facebook. For the last three days, Facebook has been displaying my blog’s main logo instead of each post’s featured image. I have not changed anything about the size of my images or how I create each post.

  Please help me fix this issue so the featured images will start appearing again. I also tried unlinking and relinking my blog to Facebook but that didn’t fix it either.

  Hey there Shannon,

  When I first tried to share your latest post via your Facebook sharing button, I did see your logo in my window, rather than your featured image. However, I ran your site through the Facebook debugger, and now I see the following:

  For the future — we don’t have complete control over what Facebook displays from your posts. Sometimes, images are cached in their system, and we don’t have access to clear them out. You, too, can run your site through the debugger if the problem recurs.

  Hi – I’m not completely clear what the debugger helps to fix – it does show the featured image, but the actual post on Facebook shows the logo.

  Are you saying the debugger has fixed the issue and future posts will display the featured images I’ve selected?

  Could you explain further – thanks!

  Shannon,

  If you want that image to change, you’d have to delete it fro Facebook, then re-post it via your sharing button.

  The debugger (among other things) clears your Facebook cache of the page you enter. Facebook had cached your logo as the image it wanted to attach to your posts. By running your URL through the debugger, it got rid of the cached image, allowing your featured image to appear.

  The debugger is a tool you can always use if you feel as if Facebook has cached images/text you wanted scraped.
