Share/Like buttons on media

  • Unknown's avatar

    I just went through all the media I’ve uploaded for my blog and turned off comments (I don’t want anyone to be able to comment on anything — it’s just a portfolio) and selectively turned on “share” and “like,” however the latter buttons are not appearing where I want them to. If you go to my blog and click on Artwork, then click on any of the images so a bigger version of it comes up, the “share” and “like” buttons should appear. Why aren’t they? I’ve enabled them and disabled comments, which had been enabled before. Please help!

    Hi there,

    The page you mention actually has the images in a gallery format:

    Artwork

    Sharing buttons will not show up on the individual slides within the gallery. However, the sharing buttons will show up on attachment pages like the following:

    Rainy

    Please let me know if you need anything else!

    Thanks, but how did you get to the page that the second link goes to? I don’t offer that as a page — the only way to see that image is to click on it from the artwork page. When I click on it, it goes to the gallery, not to the link you sent.

    Also, how do I get rid of the reblog button throughout the site? I turned off “show reblog button on posts” but it still appears on the gallery pages and elsewhere. I don’t want it to be anywhere.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hey Jennifer!

    Thanks, but how did you get to the page that the second link goes to? I don’t offer that as a page — the only way to see that image is to click on it from the artwork page. When I click on it, it goes to the gallery, not to the link you sent.

    You’re correct – that isn’t an option from your Artwork page. I found that page directly from the media file here:

    https://jshaklan.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=90

    I just clicked “View attachment page” from that screen.

    Currently, there isn’t a way to display the sharing buttons on gallery pages.

    Also, how do I get rid of the reblog button throughout the site? I turned off “show reblog button on posts” but it still appears on the gallery pages and elsewhere. I don’t want it to be anywhere.

    The reblog button shouldn’t be appearing on individual pages like this one:

    About

    I searched your site and couldn’t find it appearing besides on gallery pages. Let me know if that’s not the case!

    On the gallery pages, you’ll need to use CSS to remove it. This CSS should work:

    .jp-carousel-buttons {
    display: none;
    }

    In order to use that CSS, you’ll need to purchase the Custom Design upgrade shown here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

    From your Store page, you should be able to start a free two-week trial to get a taste for the upgrade before purchase. Can you give that a try? Here’s the direct link to your Store:

    Thanks for the additional information. Yes, I only see the reblog button on the gallery pages. I would like to keep it from appearing but I don’t want to purchase anything so I guess I’ll just have to live with it.

    Thank you for your help!
