shares via facebook are not showing on the blog postings

  hi. i am having trouble with my facebook shares disappearing on my blog postings. for example, my last blog had displayed around 105 shares via facebook. now it is blank. it does not show any shares. why does it keep disappearing on me? thank you! brooke

  Howdy Brooke!

  It looks like you just recently purchased a custom domain name (and2makescrazy.com) for your domain. When someone loads a post on your site, we actually send the URL to the various social networks. They, in turn, check to see how many times they’ve seen that URL come across their network. When returned, that number indicates the amount of shares a post has received.

  When you change the URL on your blog, the URL that we “ask” for from the social networks is then different from the URLs they’ve seen in the past. So, and2makescrazy.com/2014/09/29/happy-14th-anniversary-hot-stuff is different than and2makescrazy.wordpress.com/2014/09/29/happy-14th-anniversary-hot-stuff. Since they haven’t seen the first version of that URL, they return “0” instead of the 105 shares the post has received.

  As of right now, there isn’t anything we can do to rectify the issue. The only solution would be to revert back to using your .wordpress.com domain. However, what I would recommend is to make the switch to your custom domain and stick with it. While your numbers will reset, your posts will eventually build back up in shares over time!
