When I try send my wordpress link to friends, the option to customise the page is always at the top of the screen. Although they cannot customise without using my log in details, i don’t think the page is supposed to look that way. I have sent the link via email and text and still the problem persists. How do I stop this happening?

I see it and I agree that it should not be appearing to me or your visitors. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. This Top Area Content is a feature supported by your theme. You can either customize the message or delete the text.
Go to My Sites > Customize > Theme Options > Top Area Content
While the link is active there, your viewers are not able to access your site.
