sharing a blog post and building an email database
-
Hi!
I recently shared a blog post on FB that I’ve written. But when I click on the link myself, it also shows my other posts. Is there a way to share just one blog post?
In most of the blogs that I read, the readers are asked for their email addresses and each time a new blog is published, the readers are notified. How can I do this as well?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Anna,
What is the link you shared? If you share a link to a specific post, like https://3babiesandaschool.wordpress.com/2020/04/11/the-wooden-flower-puzzle/, people who click it should only see that post, unless they then click on your site menu or another link on your site to see another post.
If you perhaps shared your home page URL, https://3babiesandaschool.wordpress.com/, that will show all your posts, as your site displays all published posts on the front page.
WordPress.com email subscriptions are automatically enabled on your site, and people can subscribe using the follow button that appears bottom-right of the screen for logged in and logged out visitors. You can also add the Follow Blog widget to your site’s sidebar to make this option more visible:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/
If you want a pop-up instead, that’s not possible for WordPress.com subscriptions. The only pop-up subscription option we offer is for Mailchimp, and people signing up there won’t be signing up to your blog itself, but rather to a Mailchimp mailing list that you can use to send out newsletters to people.
