Sharing Blog Posts

I’ve noticed two separate but somewhat connected issues recently. First, my blog posts are not being shared on Facebook even though in my dashboard, it says I’m sharing in three places (the posts ARE showing up on Twitter and LinkedIn). The last post that automatically went to FB was on May 12 (I’ve manually added the posts since then.)
But I’m also concerned that the posts are not going out to followers (who’ve signed up through email) as my blog stats are lower. AND I’ve noticed a couple blogs (WordPress) that I was getting through email are not showing up in MY inbox. So my concern is that WordPress has made changes in their sharing application and now my posts aren’t getting out to subscribers and FB friends–and I’m not getting their posts either!
Thanks for any info on this problem (and btw, this is not the first time that my posts stopped sharing on FB–it just seems that sporadically, this blog tool quits working. I really depend on this tool and don’t always check to make sure it’s working right, so thanks again for any help.)

I’m happy to help you troubleshoot this! First, in regards to the Facebook issue, can you try disconnecting and reconnecting the service as explained here?

It looks like the issue with your recent posts was authorization related so I think resetting the connection should help.
Second, can you let me know the address of the blog that you’re not receiving updates from? That will help me dive in further and troubleshoot!

Thanks, Jeremy. Yes, reconnecting with Facebook works, and that’s what I’ve done in the past. I’m just wondering why this periodically happens–and it’s not like I automatically check to see if a post appears on FB. Maybe what I’m looking for is an automatic response that would tell me my post failed to share?
The blog that quit on me is called Writing and Illustrating (http://kathytemean.wordpress.com/). It’s possible that I inadvertently unsubscribed…I checked other blogs I’m subscribed to and it looks as if they’re okay. So yeah, it’s probably an error on my end, and hoping that my posts are going out to all my subscribers.

Hey Cathy,
It looks like you may have inadvertently unsubscribed from that blog. Can you try subscribing again using the “Follow” button in the admin bar when you visit the site while logged in to WordPress.com?
Regarding the Facebook error, it looks like somehow the token for WordPress.com, which gives your blog the authority to post to your Facebook is somehow expiring. Are you by any chance changing your Facebook password or something to that effect?

Nope, Jeremy, have never changed the password or anything to that effect. About the only thing I ever change on FB is my header pic.
And the social media icons, btw, show up on every WordPress post, indicating that I’m sharing to those sites. The only way I know my post hasn’t shared is if I happen to notice when I’m on FB…The whole thing is a mystery, but I appreciate your input.

That’s very interesting and odd. Can you let me know if your next post fails to share to Facebook for some reason?

Will do, but I expect it will be fine for a while. And then one day–poof!–it’ll happen again. :-)
(However, I will definitely check it each time and make a note of anything I’ve done that in some way could cause the glitch.)
