Sharing Buttons

  Hi, we are using the icon only sharing buttons. Before they were showing how many times the post/page was shared but for some reason they aren’t anymore. Any thoughts on why this is happening? Thanks!

  Hi there,

  It seems that you’re in the wrong support forum. You are using the self-hosted version of WordPress rather than WordPress.com. WordPress.com forum helps the sites hosted on WordPress.com only.

  I am using not self hosted version, but the situaction is the same: sharing buttons used to show shares , at least I remember FB button with numbers of shares, and few days numbers are invisible. The other thing – when using new editor to create a post, social media share buttons are not available on post page. http://www.protoaistros.lt I am using Baskerville 2, so maybe it’s a themes bug or there is a way to add them not only on landing page with latest post, but also on single post ( where to switch on?)

  Hi there,

  Facebook last week retired their API which provided share counts to third party buttons, like the icon-only buttons used on WordPress.com. So Facebook no longer offers us a way to access share counts for those buttons.

  The only buttons that will still display a share count are the official style buttons, so if you want the share count to display, you’ll have to switch to those buttons instead.
