Sharing buttons don't show on my blog (but they did a while back)… ?

    Hi.

    Sharing buttons used to appear on my blog.

    I’ve just noticed that they’ve disappeared (and I think it must have happened a while ago). Did something change?

    I’ve been to http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/ as recommended in the ‘help’, and as far as I can tell all is in order there. I cannot find an ‘enable/ disable sharing’ configuration option (assuming that there even is such a thing).

    I’ve searched the forums but have come up a blank. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

    I am not having any trouble seeing your sharing buttons. Here’s a screenshot:

    Yes, I do see something different. What I see at that post is this:

    My OS is Windows 8.1, and the browser I’m using is Firefox 29.0.1. My guess is that you’re using something different.

    Looks like a variant of WYSINWOG? (what you see is not what others get) — in this case it’s ‘WISINWOG’ (what I see etc…).

    So perhaps the problem is partly solved — but if it is a case of ‘WISINWOG’ then this implies that, err, ‘WOSINWYG’ (what others see is not what you get)! … which might deserve further investigation.

    I don’t have any other browsers installed on this machine and would rather not get involved in installing any (life’s too short) — unless, that is, you think it might provide useful information, in which case I would be happy to.

    Incidentally — thank you very much for the pointer to snaggy. I’ve not seen that one before. A very useful utility!

    I’m on Windows 7 and I can see your sharing buttons using FF 29 and IE11.

    I am using a Mac, but in FF 29 they do show up just fine.

    Could you try logging out and viewing that page?

    staff-ozmodiar I see the same when I’m logged out of WordPress — no sharing buttons. Intriguing — it could be Windows 8.1* that’s causing the problem.

    Do you have another computer you could check on? Maybe even a phone or tablet?

    I see the buttons, too, with Android running on my phone. Maxthon, Chrome & Dolphin browsers.

    staff-ozmodiar A friend has confirmed that he can see the sharing buttons on his system: Safari on OSX. I’ve checked it on another computer running Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows XP — no problem there, sharing buttons appear. All of which points to the problem being an issue with Windows 8.1 :/ If that’s the case: I guess I should pursue this further with microsoft support and/or Firefox support…

    I really wish that I could be more assistance. But I have to agree that the issue appears to be somewhere on your system rather than on the WordPress.com side.
