sharing buttons on a post

    Hi..I have just noticed that on the below post I wrote against the buttons Facebook and twitter are numbers ie facebook 235 twitter 1…what does this mean…people have taken the link to these sites or what…? I have noted that I after I posted this link on a facebook page 209 liked it…but that number is not the same as the one I mentioned above. Can anyone enlighten me please? I have been trying to encourage people who commented on the FB page to actually leave a message on my site as that would look good ;-)

    When you see numbers recorded on your blog they indicate only the share links that were clicked after someone clicked into the blog and clocked the share link below your post on the blog.

    If they clicked when they were on a social networking site to share the link then that is not recorded here at WordPress.COM. It is recorded on the relevant social networking site.

    Hi there,

    I took my time answering this, as I wanted to digest it and understand it….

    I am unsure I do understand it still unfortunately as I read your first paragraph and then checked on my site and on Facebook to see if both numbers added up…but they don’t? So I am not entirely sure now.

    So where on Facebook – and Twitter – do we find that information as you suggested? Also is there anywere on our sites to inform us of who may have used the link from our sites?
