Sharing links and buttons that I am privately paid to display?

Am I allowed as a business site to display other business buttons with a plain url link if they are paying me to display their button? Having “ads” on my site that I manage and not monetizing the site itself or having affiliate links?

There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.
