Sharing on FB
-
I share almost all my articles I write or post on my WordPress online news magazine called the Enumclaw Echo on Facebook. I do this to promote my website (blog). But FB does not always send people who are reading them back to my WordPress blog to read the article. I posted a You Tube video, for example, on my Enumclaw Echo “blog” and then I shared it on FB. I do this to get people to not only read it but hopefully follow my “blog” (I am not fond of that word “blog” because I do not “blog”- I am a news reporter, not a blogger). Anyway, this latest post on FB has over 800 “reaches’ in 48 hours but when I see the stats on my dashboard there are less than 300. I clicked on the video myself and it does not go back to my website.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see what you are talking about, but I’m afraid this is a “feature” of Facebook. They want their users to be able to consume as much content as possible without leaving Facebook and so they do what they can to pull in videos and images in a way that can be viewed right there.
The benefit for you and your work is that more people are exposed to your videos and writing than would be if you had to rely on them taking the extra step to go to your WordPress site, but I understand the frustration of not getting to choose what shows up where.
The good news is the majority of the links on your Facebook page do go back to your site, and you offer additional options for following your work without Facbook there, so while this “feature” is annoying it shouldn’t significantly impact your ability to grow your audience.
