Sharing posts

Hi all, I have had multiple people tell me that when they use the email this post link at the bottom of my top post, the post that is sent, is not the post that is just above the link. I’ve tried it as well and the bot sends me random posts from the main page, not the actual post that I wanted shared. Any clues?
I have the top post pinned to the top of the page, but it still shares random posts from earlier. TIA!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.

I’d just like to double check the end goal if I may. Are you looking to share individual post links, and are sharing the link newtownctdemocrats.org to try and achieve this?
I’m hoping the answers to the above will point us in the right direction.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi and thanks! I have people clicking on the “more” link at the bottom of a post and entering an email address there. The person who receives the email gets a link to other posts on the home page and not the post that the sender intended. I tried it myself using my email address and sure enough, the email I got had older posts sent, not the top post, which was the intent.
The intent is to be able to share a specific post via email. -
Hello there,
Many thanks for that extra detail.
Just to double check, are you referring to the more button seen here:
The reason why I ask is because I’ve clicked on the more button > selected email > entered in an email address and received emails.
The emails received contain links to the posts requested.
Are you not getting that behaviour with any posts in particular?
Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for helping check this out, that is exactly the button people have been choosing. When I did it myself, the emails I received were for previous posts. I am on a Mac, using Safari. Not sure what others are/were using.

So I went to try it again, I get a pop up window that shows three of the same message about the post being sent, but I don’t get an email anymore. Maybe it remembers that I already sent it?

Hi there,

If it’s OK, can you walk us through that in a bit more detail? What is the URL of the page you were on when you clicked the Email button? Did you send it to the address you have your account listed under, or did you send it one of your other inboxes (not related with your WordPress.com account) instead?
I visited your site and I tried the following.
I went to your “sticky” post at https://newtownctdemocrats.org/2021/07/30/come-celebrate-our-fall-campaign-kickoff/
I clicked the email link and sent the blog posts to myself (using an email address not connected to my WordPress.com account.)
When I did, I saw this message on your site:
And in my inbox I saw this email as a result:
In my case I did not see a list of blog posts, I just saw an email sharing the specific post (Come Celebrate our Fall Campaign Kickoff!) with myself. It sounds like you are getting a different result so possibly you are clicking the email button on a different page or doing something different instead? Please let us know so we can try to retrace your exact steps, thanks!

Hey everbody,
I’m getting 2 random shared posts in my email when I share the “Come Celebrate our Fall Campaign Kickoff!” featured post. I click on the share icon under the featured post from the homepage (https://newtownctdemocrats.org/).
I’ve run 2 tests. Each time I get 2 emails with random posts.
Here are the emails from my latest test.
I hope that helps :-)
Thanks!

Hey Mark!
Several of us were indeed able to replicate the issue you are having with the sharing by email feature with our test sites. I am in the process of reporting the problem internally to our developers to see if we can look into this will the goal of getting a fix for it as soon as possible.
I will definitely contact you in this thread with any updates I receive – feel free to reach out with any other questions.
Thank you!
