Sharing Posts to Twitter
-
I am a relatively new wordpress.com user currently on the free plan until I determine the site is something I wish to make a permanent thing.
I have set up post sharing to both FB and Twitter and in general, that is working well. But I am a bit puzzled with the results sent to Twitter depending on whether I select ‘Single Tweet’ or ‘Twitter Thread’ options in Twitter Settings.
And in particular, the ‘Twitter Thread’ option is the one I don’t understand. It appears the end result available on Twitter is a post of the full wp.com post with 2 ‘replies’.
– The main Twitter post contains ‘A Thread’ text at the top of the post including the post content along with the Featured Image.
– There is then a Reply to the above that includes just the post content (sans Featured Image).
– And lastly, another reply that appears to (essentially) be what would have been available had I originally selected ‘Single Tweet’ in the Twitter Settings when publishing the post.It seems rather redundant, and I would think a bit confusing to visitors, to find 3 tweets with essentially the same content.
Is that the expected behavior? Is there a mechanism that would allow me to not send the 2 ‘Replies?
Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

The Publicize options allow you to publish to Twitter as a link in a single tweet or as a tweet thread. Any text, images, or videos from the post will be automatically uploaded as well. You can even see where the paragraphs will be split so you can customize exactly how your tweet thread will be displayed.
Since your posts appear to be brief, text wise and more image heavy, the Twitter Thread option might not be the best option for you and instead you should just choose “single tweet” going forward. Twitter threads are typically for more text-heavy posts.
I hope that clarifies things!
