Sharing tab option missing in the new editor?

    Discovered this by accident: I did not see the sharing tab in the new editor. I needed to use the tab because one of my blogs and one page was missing the sharing icons. When I switched to the classic editor (which has the sharing tab) I was able to fix the issues. I think this happened because the blog and page were the ones that came pre-configured with my WordPress.com account. Other pages and blogs I am adding are OK — no intervention required.

    Note: I checked the options for the new editor and did not see the sharing option:

    * General
    Enable Pre-publish Checks

    *Document Panels
    Permalink
    Categories
    Tags
    Featured Image
    Excerpt
    Discussion
    Page Attributes

    Hi @drpetmom, can you check to see if you’ve got a Jetpack icon in the upper right? You should, and the sharing settings will be there.

    On Site Pages editor there is no Jetpack icon.

    On Blog Posts editor, there is the Jetpack icon. But when I click on it there are only settings for connecting to social accounts.

    This is what I see:

    The issue I was having was the share icons were not showing up on a page and a post. Jetpack does not address this. The only way I could fix this was to use the classic editor which still has the sharing settings.

    Thanks, actually I just took a look at your account and I’m not finding any active connections. Can you try reconnecting to see if that helps?

    Sorry if I was not clear enough: I’m not looking to make any active connections at this time. I just wanted the share icons on all my pages and blog posts. And the only place to toggle this is in the classic editor (per page or post).

    I think this option belongs in the new editor too? Thanks.

    Hi there,

    Like and share buttons cannot currently be controlled per-post in the block editor, no. Our developers are aware of the issue and working on it, but I cannot give you an estimate on when this will be fixed. For now, the only way to control per-post sharing settings is via the classic editor.
