Shopify Subdomain Issue
-
Hello, I want to create a wordpress blog, but I need support on a different subject, I will write you this in detail. Please help me.
I bought a domain through Shopify. I set up my E-Commerce site here and I’m selling. Now I want to open a subdomain on Shopify and set up a WordPress Blog here.
Example: My domain name http://www.demo.com was purchased through Shopify and registered there. Now I want to buy a personal package from blog.demo.com Subdomain wordpress and run my blog.demo.com from here. However, Shoify told me that I would do it. I’m not a software developer so I’ll post the email sent to me by the Shopify support team below. Can you help me step by step what should I do for installation? Please
Shopify Mail:
Yes, when you add a subdomain, Shopify’s default CNAME (Canonical Name) is automatically added to your DNS (Domain Name System) settings. If you want to point the subdomain to a specific website, you can edit your DNS settings to point your subdomain to another website not hosted by Shopify, such as wordpress.
I do see previously steps have been provided on where to edit your DNS settings, however as to what information is required to point your subdomain for example to WordPress you can follow the steps below or work with the WordPress team when it comes to adjustments requirede on their end:
In Shopify, head to Settings > Domains, click Manage next to the domain in question. Next, click DNS Settings just under the header of the page and select Add Custom Record > A Record
In the Name field, enter the desired prefix for the subdomain (e.g., enter blog). In the Points To field, enter the A Record provided by the external host. (wordpress will need to advise of this), then click Confirm. screenshot provided here
Select Add Custom Record > CNAME Record. In the Name field, enter the same prefix for the subdomain, preceded by www. (e.g., enter http://www.blog). In the Points To field, enter the CNAME domain provided by the external host. (again, wordpress will need to confirm this), then click Confirm. Screenshot provided hereNext, you’ll need to verify the domain with wordpress which they have a guide for linked here. Remember that domain changes can take up to 72 hours to sync, so the new subdomain may not be ready to go right away.

Hi there,
We can definitely provide the necessary A records settings (IP addresses) to allow you to connect your subdomain. On our end you will need to do two things. The first is that you will need to start a site, it can be empty for now until you start to add your content. You can do that here: https://wordpress.com/start/
The second step is that you will need to upgrade your site. It’s not possible to connect a subdomain (like blog.ladyros.com) to free WordPress.com sites, so any of our plans give you the option to connect a custom address. Since you are starting out the Personal plan is the lowest cost and probably the best fit for your current needs:
Once you have created your site and upgraded we can provide the IP addresses you need to connect your subdomain. Shopify does provide instructions on how to add them but if that part proves challenging to you, their support should be able to assist. Once you have the IP addresses from us you will have all the info you need for them to help you make the connection.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
