Shopping Cart

How do I add this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@minerva09 – if you have no answer please refrain from confusing people
Shopping carts and e-commerce are not allowed on WordPress.COM. If you need that functionality you will need to do your own WordPress.ORG install after you find you own host.
You might also review the TOS while you are waiting:

It is a shopping cart, that will be added to my blog. I will give option to buy paperback or e-book.

@auxclass: Mind your tone… I think you need to read Forum rule 1 again which says:
We love positive and productive discussions, so please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community. But since you have raise this question, lemme clear you that I specialize in web technologies though I am sure there may be million coders better than me…
I just want to be clear with the issue before making an answer…

@IT1954: auxclass is right… An actual shopping cart is not supported on wordpress.com
Further, yes shifting to wordpress.org is very easy…
You can export your blog from wordpress.com and import it to wordpress.org
If anybody has a faster or better approach, he or she is most welcome :)

Are you actually intending to mail the book to people yourself, or rather sell through Amazon or Lulu or something? If it is the first one, ignore the rest of my post
If you are selling a book through such a service, is there a need to have your own shopping cart? Why not just link to the actual seller’s website? (Mind you, this might still be against the TOS, I haven’t actually checked…)
Forgive me if this seems unhelpful, it’s just to me it seemed a reasonable alternative to having your own shopping cart.

If it is your own book you might be OK, but you need to talk to the TOS Staff people first to make sure.
A link to an Amazon affiliate store (or any other affiliate catalog) can cause your site to be suspended.

As @lt1954 only has a couple of posts in the WordPress.com blog IMHO it makes little sense to spend money on a guided transfer to a WordPress.org install. This can be done easily by following step by step do-it-yourself instructions. Setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org install > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/11/06/setting-up-a-self-hosted-wordpress-org-install/ The post I linked to above contains all the required information and advice from thesacredpath who does this frequently for clients.@lt1954
You will be responsible for all upgrades, installations, backups and troubleshooting. If you install a theme or a plugin that negatively affects your blog, then you have to figure out what went wrong and fix it. Sometimes it is a conflict with another plugin, sometimes is it is just a poorly written plugin. If you are not skilled at WordPress.com blogging, and also lack the skill sets required to self host your own WordPress.org install then acquiring those skills first is recommended. -
~~TT – good point on the two Posts – I did see that and thought of that but neglected to include that info.
The Good News / Bad news is the .ORG world famous “5 minute install” as I found out that is the easy part.
Thanks
