I am trying to add a product widget to my blog post and instead of the widget, it shows just the coding.

We have code restrictions at wordpress.COM. No javscript widgets or iframes or third party advertising codes can be used on any wordpress.COM hosted sites.

Third party advertising widgets are not allowed here. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted sites with wordpress.ORG software installs.
