Shoreditch Front Page Question
-
Hi, I am using the Shoreditch theme and am trying to make the front page similar to the one in the demo.
I am following instructions in the “Custom Page Templates” in the Shoreditch overview but I am not getting the expected results.
The step by step of what I did was:
1. Change the “Home” page Page Attributes > Template to “Panel Page Template”, left Parent Page and Order to their default values2. Added a new page “Intro” and set Parent Page to the “Home” page, left Page Attributes > Template and Order to their default values
3. Added a paragraph and a featured image to the new “Intro” page
4. In Appearance > Customize > Homepage Settings, I set it to be a static page and set the Homepage to be the “Home” page
Now this works and I can see the Intro page as a block but I also see a blank block for the “Home” page itself. The layout of the page when I preview it now looks like this.
===========================================
Header
===========================================
Home (this should not be displayed)
===========================================
An Introduction
Lorem ipsum===========================================
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
On the Shoreditch demo page, the section of the homepage titled “Welcome” is set as the homepage. Since you have a blank “Home” page set as your current homepage, that’s why you’re seeing that page titled in that section.
What you’d need to do is create your Intro section (which looks to be a Post currently) as a Page and set that as your homepage in the Customizer settings.Edit: I was wrong! Intro is already set as a Page, so you would just need to set that as your homepage instead of the Home page.
I hope that helps!

Thank you for the response.
I tried what you said but it still didn’t give me the results as I was expecting. While the “Home” section is gone, it also wasn’t showing other child pages.
For instance I added two new pages, Portfolio and Contact page. I set both pages’ Parent to the Home page. Then set the Intro page as the front page in Customize > Homepage Settings.
The site structure now looks like this:
===========================================
Header
===========================================
An Introduction
===========================================
Intro page description. Lorem ipsum…
===========================================
The desired result is similar to the one in the demo which is something like this
===========================================
Header
===========================================
An Introduction
Intro page description. Lorem ipsum…===========================================
My Portfolio
Portfolio page description. Lorem ipsum…===========================================
Contact Me
Contact page description. Lorem ipsum…===========================================

Hi. The Shoreditch demo doesn’t have a header image displayed. The top panel is the one set as the homepage or front page, with a featured image as background, and the content of the page displayed as what might be called an introduction. The pages below that panel, Partners and Services, are child pages of the front page. See the Panel Page Template section of the Shoreditch overview for relevant information and instructions regarding using that template on a page set as the homepage.
The portfolio page can’t be one of the panels because it’s not a static page, and therefore can’t be a child page. However, you could create a static page and display the portfolio in it using Portfolio Shortcode.
Your Contact Me page should be a child page of the front page, with either a Form Block (Block Editor) or Contact Form (Classic Editor) inserted into it.

Hi, thanks for that. I was able to get it similar to the demo.
