Shoreditch panel page
-
Hi – I’m trying to make some top-level pages use the panel layout as shown on the homepage of the Shoreditch demo (headline, text excerpt, thumbnail image) but without success. Using the panel page template and adding child pages inserts all child page content into the panel page (as in the panel page template demo – https://shoreditchdemo.wordpress.com/panel-page-template/).
Any help gratefully received – thanks!

Hi,
The Home page and the Panel Page Template page of the Shoreditch demo both have the panel page template assigned. They are both structured the same. The apparent differences are mainly due to presence or absence of featured images on the parent and child pages.
Do any of your published pages presently have the panel page template assigned?

Hi – not yet. I did try assigning featured images to child pages but the result was as on the panel page template page, rather than the homepage (ie large feature images rather than thumbnails).
http://communicationtherapyinternational.org/events/ has the panel page template, but the child pages are being pulled through in their entirety, rather than as in the home page example. Not sure I’m missing?

Hi there – let’s take a look at this page:
It looks to be displaying as expected, so let’s dive in a little deeper at what you’re expecting to see there:
the child pages are being pulled through in their entirety, rather than as in the home page example.
Could you show me specifically where you see something other than the full content of child pages appearing on the panel page?
For example, I looked at the Shoreditch panel example here – https://shoreditchdemo.wordpress.com/panel-page-template/ I see the full content of each child page displayed there – i.e. the same thing I’m seeing on your page.
If you compare the content of the individual child pages, you can see that the text is the same as what you see on the panel page.
Full Child page 1 – https://shoreditchdemo.wordpress.com/panel-page-template/child-page-1/
Full Child page 2 – https://shoreditchdemo.wordpress.com/panel-page-template/child-page-2/
Full Child page 3 – https://shoreditchdemo.wordpress.com/panel-page-template/child-page-3/
If you could show me more specifically where you see a discrepancy, it would be super helpful in tracking this down. Thanks!

Ah, I think I’ve misunderstood how the template is working on the Home example, that Testimonials and Responsive Design are the child pages. No problem, I’ll just reassess how the content is presented.
Thanks for all the help.
