Shoreditch theme no access to side bar widget area in customizer
-
Hello
I am working with the Shoreditch theme and it should have access to 3 widget areas. When I go into the customizer for my website it only has the 2 areas top footer and bottom footer. It is missing the side bar area.
Currently this theme defaults with the search widget in the sidebar of all pages- I need to remove this and add others. Can you please assist by advising how I can customise sidebar widgets?
Thanks inn Adavance

Hi,
On Shoreditch, the sidebar widget area is only available on pages that have the default page template assigned. The other two templates are full-width, so there’s no room for a sidebar widget area on pages assigned the “Full Width Page” or “Panel Page” templates.
In the Customizer sidebar, by policy, WordPress.com hides controls for features not found on the page displayed. While at Customize > Widgets, if you click on your “About Us” page, which has the default template, you’ll find that “Sidebar” suddenly appears amont the controls in the left sidebar.
Currently this theme defaults with the search widget in the sidebar of all pages- I need to remove this and add others.
See the “Adding and Configuring Widgets” and “Removing Widgets” sections of the Widgets support page.

Correction:
In addition to appearing on static pages with the default page template assigned, the Shoreditch sidebar widget area also appears on the blog page, archives pages, and single posts, as can be seen in the demo at the Shoreditch theme guide. -
