Short caption on page, longer description on photo

  I am having a hard time understanding or working the title, caption, alternate text, etc.

  In my most recent blog post, there is a photo at the bottom of a fish in the middle of the road. I would like a short caption to show up on the main blog page, but if you click the photo or hover over the photo, I would like to be able to include a much more detailed description.

  I have tried adding information at various editing stages of the photo, but I can’t get these to work.

  To do this you need to add the longer text in the Description field, and select the Attachment Page link option when you are about to insert the image. See this post of mine:
