(short version) Any plans on issuing a Jetpack that supports sites on localhost?

    The longer verson:
Problem: when attempting to connect a site in development (on localhost) to WordPress.com, I get:

“Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible
Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed couldn’t connect to host]”

A little websearch explains to me that Jetpack can’t be set up on localhost, which is bad since I can’t take a site online before I know everything works as it should.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To clarify; I don’t need help with thorirvidar.wordpress.com, but it would be nice to know if there are any plans on making jetpack work on localhost installs.

  • Hi there – the Jetpack developers are currently working on a mode which would allow the plugin to run in a localhost environment. We don’t have an exact ETA, but keep your eye on the Jetpack blog for updates!

Just let me know if you have any further questions.
