Shortcode to Embed Grooveshark Widget in Posts

As Clearspring is dropping the widget project and focusing on its AddThis button, I was wondering if there is any way WordPress could still bring back the ability to embed the Grooveshark player via a shortcode for posts. I’ve just started to blog regularly on WP and would miss the ability post/share the Grooveshark songs straight into my music blog. While I noticed that it could be easily done on Blogger, to be honest, I don’t want to switch to Blogger since I really like the way WP is laid out and am really pleased with how professional it looks. I also don’t want to have to keep two separate blogs either. The only thing missing is having some music to go along with posts where I talk about a certain song – it would be really nice for example if my visitors could listen to the song I’m referring to that’s related to a poem I’ve posted.

It’s a great tool, helps put another dimension into my blog to make it more unique, and plus, I think it would help spread the word about some genres of music that might otherwise be missed.

Is there any way at all to create a shortcode for the Grooveshark Widget so we’d be able to embed them into our posts? Please please!? :D

All else aside, thank you for making wp.com possible and such a great blogging service though!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To prioritize this for staff, I suggest you send it directly to Support via the contact page http://support.wordpress.com/contact

I might be missing something, but isn’t there a function right on the Grooveshark site to send the song widget to WordPress? There’ve been so many recent changes on the Grooveshark site, I may be wrong.

They do have a plugin for WordPress, but unfortunately it can’t be used on WordPress.com. You have to download and host your own wordpress for that.

No, not a plugin. Simply when you play a song or make a song list, you can create a Grooveshark widget and send it to your WordPress.com blog. If my Internets weren’t as slow as molasses right now, I’d try it out.

Seems something must have changed on the Grooveshark end because once upon a time you could post your widget directly to your WP.com blog without jumping through hoops.
