Shortcodes not working for Purpose theme
-
We recently purchased the Purpose theme from wordpress.com for use on our blog and we are hoping to purchase the yearly hosting plan once it is up.
However, we purchased the Purpose theme in a large part due to the layout possibilities such as multiple columns. However, the short codes required to create these layouts do not seem to be working. We are using the short codes list in the Purpose theme documentation here:
As you can see they aren’t creating the columns:
What are we missing?

another site then, of course, there will be no refund for that portion of the upgrade.
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. This guide will explain how to move your WordPress.com site to another hosting platform: Moving to a Self-Hosted WordPress Site
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.me/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you move to a self-hosted site and if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Yes, I am using Purpose on WordPress.com. Those links are helpful. I found a brief reference to the equivalent of the column shortcodes on this page under a “note”:
<div class="one-fourth"> <div class="" style="padding: 24px;"> Put any text and images you would like in the column here. </div> </div>From this, combined with the documentation for short codes in the wordpress.com version of the theme, I was able to extrapolate the code for third columns:
<div class="one-third"> <div class="" style="padding: 24px;"> column 1 </div> </div>It seems it would be helpful to have a more thorough exploration of these special css classes somewhere in the purpose theme documentation for wordpress.com. Or maybe I just haven’t found it yet.
I will pursue further questions about the wordpress.com purpose theme in the purpose theme specific forum here, but I am leaving this here for anyone who comes across this thread in the future.
