Shorten .entry-summary within Expound

    I’m creating / editing a wordpress site at http://ansariinc.wordpress.com/ using Expound and I’m trying to shorten the default 220 px x 260 px to 1/2 the height. Using the custom css, I added:

    .entry-summary {
    height: 177px;
    overflow: hidden;
    text-overflow: ellipsis;
    }

    This shortened by a bit (I couldn’t shorten to less than 177 px or it would shift the entire alignment of the page. I lost the ellipsis at the bottom of the screen, which is why I tried to add them back with the “text-overflow: ellipsis;”, but this did not work.

    Is there another way I can shorten the entry-summary (even shorter than 177) while keeping the ellipsis at the end?

    Please note I am making the change using an account in a different email, so please refer to this site to view what I’m referring to: ansariinc.wordpress.com

    Thank you!

  • Actually, you can do that without any fancy CSS by simply adding a custom Excerpt to the posts that appear in your slider.

    You can access this by going editing the post in question, and then scrolling down in the editor view until you see the Excerpt box. Just enter a short custom description (can be different that the text in the post itself) like you see here:

    Screen Shot 2014 01 25 at 4 45 38 PM

    Which will look something like this on your site:

    Screen Shot 2014 01 25 at 4 48 42 PM

    Please note that if you do not see the Excerpt box, you may need to click on the “Screen Options” tab in the upper right corner of your editor window. Did that solve your issue?

    Cheers!
