shorter view of posts on front page

  how do I get a shorter view of my posts on my front page? My posts tend to be long and I want to show more on the front page but I can only get the front page to show the whole post.

  There are two different issues here.

  If you want to show an abbreviated form of your posts, use the more tag.

  If you want more posts on your front page go to your dashboard, then Options, Reading and set the number to whatever you like.
