SHould I delete my free blog on Word Press?
-
First I started a free blog on word press (treatyourselfnow.wordpress.com). Then I became convinced I should have own domain name. Followed a PDF guide which lead me through using Go Daddy and then Hostgator. Now have a domain: http://treatyourselfnow.net. The PDF guide tells me to use cpanel and install wordpress with Fantastico De Luxe but that no longer exists as an option. Seems Quick Install powered by MOJO is now the best way to install Word Press. So I was stumbling through that when I got the message, ‘Failure. There was an error in your installation. Please ensure the directory you are installing to does not already exist…’ I think maybe I should delete my existing free blog account, with the name ‘treat yourself now’. Am I right? There are all kinds of dire warnings about deleting the account and never being able to use it again. I want to keep the title, ‘treat yourself now’ as it’s in my domain name, I have a logo, and all the work I have done on this so far is using that name. Please advise!

Hi there,
It seems you were using a PDF guide for “WordPress.org”. “treatyourselfnow.wordpress.com.” is hosted here in WordPress.com.
To see more about the differences between WordPress.com WordPress.org, please visit this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you already own “http://treatyourselfnow.net.” then you only need to map your domain to WordPress.com. To find more information about mapping domains, visit this link:

Don’t forget that after buying domain mapping, you have to update your DNS records (as provided in the help guide) in your domain provider.
