Should I get the Site Redirect Upgrade?

  • Unknown's avatar

Probably towards the end of the month I’m planning on going the WordPress.org route for ifantasyrace.com. Ever since my site was created on WordPress.com I’ve had the domain mapping upgrade so nobody has really ever went to my site as ifantasyrace.wordpress.com. I’m wondering if the Site Redirect Upgrade would be beneficial to me in this circumstance. From my reading about the upgrade I get the feeling the benefit is really for people who have been known as something.wordpress.com.

Thanks in advance for the input.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No it would not be beneficial. Since you went with your own domain name right away, there won’t be any traffic to redirect.

Set the blog here to private though so it does not show up in search engines after you point the domain name at the new host. I suggest hanging onto the old blog here just in case at some point in the future you want to resurrect it for some reason.
