Should I have created a 'matching blog address' when I changed my username?

I have been trying to change my username and URL from kaleandkate to homegrownkate.

I bought the original domain name (kaleandkate) through WordPress, but changed my mind and bought another domain name (homegrownkate) through GoDaddy, which I ‘directed’ to my WordPress blog a couple of months ago.

I’ve just figured out how to change my username, but I think I clicked on the wrong option at the very end when asked if I needed to create a matching blog address. I thought ‘NO’ because homegrownkate is already the name of my blog, but I’ve just checked the username and it’s still ‘kaleandkate’. Does it take time to change or should I have clicked the option to “Change example.wordpress.com to match my new username and discard the old address”??? If so, how can I go back and do this????

I want my blog URL to be homegrownkate.wordpress.com NOT kaleandkate.wordpress.com.

    Please help.
    Many thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You will have to transfer the blog and upgrades to the new username account.

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address.

Below is what the blog’s owner must do.

You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased upgrades to renew them or transfer the blogs and the upgrades to another username account.

To transfer a blog from one username account A to another username account B you must first log in under the username account A that owns the blog you want to transfer to the other username account.

Then you add the other username account B as an Admin of the blog.
    adding users http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
    user roles http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

Then you A can use this process to transfer the blog to that username account B instead http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

    Then see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades

Hold it! I think I misunderstood.

http://homegrownkate.wordpress.com doesn’t exist it’s reserved. When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

That’s not the important part here. You are domain mapping to http://homegrownkate.com/. The good news is that it does not matter a feather or a fig what the underlying .wordpress.COM blog URL is when you are domain mapping. I would not do anything at all.

However, if you insist then you can register the http://homegrownkate.wordpress.com URL that no one else can register and then export your content out of your current underlying .wordpress.com blog and import your content into the new underlying .wordpress.com and then get Staff to move the domain mapping. I would not do that.
