Should I Moderate Comments?

  I don’t want people cussing on my site, so should I moderate people’s comments?

  It’s pretty much up to you. It’s a personal choice.

  You could always go back and edit the comments but some folks might take offense to that.

  Again, it’s pretty much your own site.

  -> Dashboard – > Options -> Discussion (This is the page where you can make the choices required to moderate comments or not). There are arguments on both sides of this issue.
  Another point to consider is “spam” potential. If you do not moderate comments then spam will automatically be posted if it slips through Akismet filtering.
  I wouldn’t even consider having open comments. IMO it’s my blog. I’m a hostess there just as I am in my own home. I would never allow anyone to spam or insult my company in my own home so I don’t allow this on my blog. Whatever gets posted on my blog gets run by me first.
  People on the other side of the issue state that flame wars bring them lots of hits so they have no issue with off colour comments.
