The shoutbox is legal but I am pretty shore that code will not work.

yerp.. it’s not working anyway.. :(

is there any other services offering the shoutbox which is can be implemented onto the widgets?

    Now THAT sounds painful!

    Sorry…

Please do a search for Shoutbox here in the forums. This has already been discussed many times over in the past. Chatboxes are usually iframe based or Javascript based and both of those are removed from any input due to security concerns.

A list of useable tags are available here.

And, yes you can use photobucket and imageshack to host pictures. Why you would want to, I don’t have a clue as WP.com gives you 25 megs of space to host them here and you then don’t have to worry about the other sites being offline. IIRC, those services give you the image tags that you need to put in your posts to link to the images.

btw, is there any possibility to add flash files or play music background on post? it will be attractive.. ;D

Please cosult the FAQ and WordPress documentation before coming to the forum for suport – please, please. Yes you can install flash files and yes you can have music.

you can also just get a custom chat room and just link it to your blog. Like I did on mine.

Just noticed that the original poster mentions wordpress.org.

If you’re hosting your own blog elsewhere, you need to be over here as these forums are for those blogs here at WP.com and we run a different code base than you do.

but, will be possible in the future to we have a shoutbox on our blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

Anything is possible. You’re probably asking is it likely to happen in the near future. If so, I doubt it.

If it’s really important to you to have a shoutbox then you could do what patriotsfan did and get a custom chatroom.

Shotgun, could be. The issue is the unsecure nature of JavaScripts. If I could insert a JS on my site, it would be child’s play to insert one which would grab the cookie of any logged in WP user who viewed that page. Then I could do tons of damage to your own blog, even deleting it. And I don’t think you would want that now, would you?

    just curious.
No man, I dont want troubles.
    sorry

It’s okay. People sometimes don’t get the point that javascript can be used in very devious ways. On WordPress security is number one.

No big. The question just gets asked many times a day around here. Folks don’t realize what one could do damage wise with a javascript.
