show blog- my band’s website.
-
I’m using WordPress for my band’s website/EPK. I’m using the blog as a show updater- you can see it in the “shows” button. What I want to do is have the show date show up where the post date is (I tried editing the post date but it won’t be published until that date), and maybe even have them disappear or move to a different part of the page once that date has gone by. Does this make sense? Is this possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is not something that is doable at wordpress.COM. The best you could do would be to put the show date at the top of the blog post itself.
As far as an “expiration” date where the post would diappear, that is also something you cannot do here. There might be a plugin that can do that, but plugins are for self-hosted blogs and don’t work here. What you will have to do is manually un-publish the post when the event is past.

How about making each show a normal Post with some extra information so the Post does not look like a one line wonder and then have a Page that just has a one line description and link to the relevant Post with more information.
Post information could be – time, date, place, cover, address etc. You can have a link to a Google map if you wanted.
The “Now Appearing” page could have “Feb 4 Valentines Bistro” or “Jan 17 The Wayward Inn”
Bit awkward but you want the Post with some information to help your visitors figure out where you are playing and a search engine to find enough information to index your appearance.
