Show First Few Lines of Post Other Questions

    1. Is there a way to show only the first few lines of each post on the home page? I want a visitor to choose if they want to read the whole post.
    2. Can I only show the current month’s posts on the home page? I’d like to have the other posts available if you click the corresponding archive time period.
    3. I’ve purchased my own TLD name and I’ve figured out I can use it instead of mydomain.wordpress.com. My only question is: how does WP do this? Wouldn’t that have to go through the DNS name servers? Do I have to do anything else beside just associate the new domain name with the WP blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    1. Use the “more” tag:

    2. No, but you can reduce the number of posts per page under Settings > Reading.

    3. That feature is available, and it’s called “domain mapping”:

The “more” tag is heaven sent! I love it…

Number 2 doesn’t bother me that much. I’m happy enough with it being this way. With the more tag available and the sticky post, it makes it flexible enough for my needs.

The domain mapping article was helpful. I find it a bit surprising that the only themes and/or widgets available when running on WP servers are the ones they provide. But on the other hand, maybe not.

If I understand correctly, advertising is also not allowed. I guess if my blog goes big at some future point, then I’ll be forced to move it to a service provider and get all the goodies. :-)
