I read a bit about Portfolio and tried both blask and orvis with portfolio main page instead of posts page. I don’t think it will give a wide view of my posts with the featured image. I saw it done using the theme but only if it supports it and then it depends on its implementation.
I’ve searched using some filters in the theme options that give wide view of posts using images:– Magazine types:
o Rowling – the post page width is really small
o Apostrophe – issues with Hebrew support like “week ago 1” instead
of Hebrew text and menus are on the left side of the site instead of
on the right
o Gazette,Fontfollio, Cubic – widgets no showing on the main posts
page– Grid based
all 4 of which none have widgets no showing on the main posts page -
A bigger problem in the theme is that for the post date for each one I see stuff like ‘days ago 3’ and not ‘3 days ago’. I think it’s a bug in the theme since for earlier dates I see it in hebrew, and in other themes I see those text in hebrew as well, it’s a shame…Apostrophe was nearly perfect other than the date format. I tried to find a theme exactly like apostrophe but without the date bug. Haven’t found one, so I’ll stick with ixion until I do or the date bug in apostrophe will be fixed.
I’m seeing that the Apostrophe theme still needs a bit more help with translation. Once that happens, we can launch the translations for all users of this theme.

As long as you’re logged into your WordPress.com account, you’ll be able to suggest translations.
Once you’re done, feel free to leave a message in this thread and we’ll make sure our translation validators have a look at the new submissions.
I checked rowling now, in this one the dates are good unlike apostrophe but going into each post, the featured image in the top is too big and the text and main images in the post itself are shrunk too much…Rowling – the post page width is really small
So via the Content Options you could disable the featured image display on the individual posts. Then you could put an image within the body of the post. The font size can be adjusted from My Site > Customize > Fonts. Adjusting the page width would require upgrading the site to Premium or Business so that Custom CSS could be used.

thanks @dcoleonline, I’ve logged on and translated all missing hebrew translations in the apostrophe theme. Their status is currently ‘waiting’.
I got some feedback regarding my site with apostrophe, a lot of people would like a wide view of my posts with the images, so rowling and apostrophe are the closest match other than the issues I described above, once they will be resolved I will try them out.
Too bad about the page width being available only for premium since you can have a look at the example, in my opinion the default width should be increased, it’s drastically lower than other themes. Is there a place I can suggest it to?
I’ve started a facebook promotion from my site from the facebook page, so I won’t touch the side until it will be finished
