show list of all posts in a month?

Hi… The Settings/Reading is set to “blog pages show at most ONE post”. I DO want visitors to see only the one latest post when they come to the blog. BUT when a visitor clicks EITHER a month name in the Archives widget OR a Category name in the Categories widget, it would make sense that they see all a list of all the items available there. It makes no sense (to me, newbie) that the setting for “blog pages show at most…” would carry over to this sort of request for display of posts.

For example, if there were 15 posts during a given month, no visitor will click through 14 newer posts, one after the other, to get back to number 15, yet this is what they seem to have to do.

Question: can I keep the setting for showing one post at at time to visitors, yet show them a list of all available posts when they want an overview of a section of Arhcives or a look at what’s contained in a category?

Please let me know if this question is not clear or complete enough.

And thanks in advance for any time you might have for a reply.

I’m sorry but that’s no a feature that’s universally found. Please see these posts so we don’t have to type all the information out again.

See this Archives short code option > http://en.support.wordpress.com/archives-shortcode/

I hope this helps. Happy blogging. :)

    Hi timethief,

The “shortcode” will be helpful – thanks for the pointer.

I guess this: “you cannot set a certain number for the main page and a different number for category or archive pages” makes it clear :-)

It looks like the two URLs in your note are identical … typo?

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply – much appreciated.
