    Is it true that you can’t display posts in chronological order?

    (If so, that’s…uh, astonishing.)

    Not so astonishing. Regular readers want to view your latest posts without having to scroll through months or years of old information / articles / posts.
    This is from a support article which will explain how to provide an index to posts so it will look like chapters in a book, in chronological order:

    A blog is, essentially, a reverse chronological publishing tool. There are ways to use a blog to post long-form pieces in chapters, however, though it will require a bit of work.

    Well, it is kind of astonishing. I maintain many blogs, so I know that in most cases, reverse chronological is the way to go. But I wanted to create a new blog that’s sort of a diary, and it simply won’t make any sense if read from newest to oldest.

    There is no automatic way to do it here on WordPress.com. I’m sorry that this is not what you wanted to hear, but that does work for what you are describing you want to do.
