Show recent post snippets on Home Page?
-
Currently the home page displays the most recent post (with no link to Comments) and a list of previous posts at the bottom. In my current theme, can I change it to show a list of recent posts with snippets under each item, linking to the post itself?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No answers?
The name of my theme seems to have disappeared from the blog (used to be at the bottom of the home page). Bushwick? Something like that. Does it not support Home-page snippets of posts, rather than just the latest one and a list?
Also, even though the most recent post occupies the whole Home page, the Categories, Tags, and the word ‘Comments’ do not show up.

Obviously the volume of questions is way too high for the Support staff. This question is now five days old, so I’m bumping it up. Any other source for answers?

Have you tried the “more” tag technique? You can insert a “read more” tag at any point in your post and it will truncate it at that point so that the reader can continue to the full post.
See all about it here:

Actually in your theme that looks like using the more tag would just truncate the first post so that users would see the list below after less text, but It does not seem that it would add an excerpt to the titles in that list.
And using the themes excerpt feature appears to create a small excerpt at the top of the post rather than presenting it instead of the post.
The theme page shows some examples and none seem tomdo what you need.

Many thanks, houstonweaver, for your suggestion to use the ‘More’ tag. That works well, and keeps from making the home page too long.
You’re right that Excerpt does not creat snippets on the Home Page, so I guess I’ll have to live with that. But using More definitely helps. I was not aware it was an option, so I appreciate your expertise.
I have toyed with changing Themes, but among the free ones Bushwick is one of only two or three that support a vertical header, and I liked it better than the others.

I peeked at your site earlier to see the vertical header and loved the look, so I totally understand sticking with it!
I’m happy that shortening the main article helps to feature your other entries as well.
