Showcase Page Twenty Eleven Theme
-
Hi,
I’m testing out the twenty eleven theme and I’m having issues with the showcase page. My most recent posts don’t show up on the showcase page, I only see the slider. Also, I have the sidebar on the right of my pages but can’t figure out how to move the sidebar to the right on the showcase page (it currently shows up on the left). I’d like all sidebars on the right side of the pages.
One more question, on the actual post pages, is there a way to show my header on those pages instead of the featured image? I’ve selected featured images for posts in order to have them show up on the showcase page slider, however, I don’t want them showing up instead of the header on every post page.
Please help! Thanks!

Did you manage to get this sorted out? I’m seeing your four recent posts below the slider on the homepage.

Twenty Eleven is designed to display the post’s featured image in the header area if it meets the minimum size requirements. If you would rather it not appear there, some workarounds include:
– add a featured image that’s smaller than the minimum required for header images (1000px x 288px)
– override the theme’s defaults with some custom CSSI have the sidebar on the right of my pages but can’t figure out how to move the sidebar to the right on the showcase page (it currently shows up on the left). I’d like all sidebars on the right side of the pages.
The showcase’s sidebar has a specific layout which always displays on the left. (This was reported when Twenty Eleven first came out, but it is not considered a bug: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/19344 )
The custom CSS provided in that ticket should do the trick if you opt for the upgrade:
.right-sidebar.page-template-showcase-php #main .widget-area { float: right; margin: 0; width: 22.15%; } .right-sidebar.page-template-showcase-php section.recent-posts { float: left; margin: 0; width: 69%; } -
Hi thanks for getting back to me!
-My most recent posts don’t show up on the showcase page, I only see the slider.
What was happening was that the sticky posts weren’t showing as the most recent posts below the slider. So I made a few posts non-sticky and they showed up below the slider as I wanted.
Also, I’ve noticed that only the most recent post shows completely on the showcase page; the rest of the posts are shrunken down to just the titles. Is there a way to change that? I’d like the most recent posts to show fully on that page.
Thanks!

The reason sticky posts weren’t showing below your slider is that sticky posts on the showcase page in Twenty Eleven are pulled into the slider instead of being displayed as regular posts:
To add posts to the Featured Post section, also known as a post slider, just mark some posts as sticky. That’s all there is to it.
– from the Twenty Eleven showcase page
It’s not possible to have a post both in the slider as well as below it, so I think that explains what you were seeing before you unstickied your posts.
Also, I’ve noticed that only the most recent post shows completely on the showcase page; the rest of the posts are shrunken down to just the titles.
Again, this is a feature of Twenty Eleven, as you can see on the demo site:

Is there a way to change that? I’d like the most recent posts to show fully on that page.
It’s not possible to change this, as it’s the way the theme is designed and not something that can be altered with CSS.
