Showing a number of latest posts on a static page
-
Hi there,
I’m putting together a community based site and am having trouble with the home page. If I leave it static, there is no way of pulling in up to date content on the page unless I use a slider. Not that I can see anyway…
If I set it to the ‘blog’ or posts page, all the end user gets to see is a bunch of new posts and no other content. You can’t drop a slider into the posts page as it won’t display. Hardly ideal.
Surely there has to be a way to effectively display updated posts from different categories, on a static page at some point. Ideally 2 or 4 boxes on the page a bit like the magazine templates. Even displayed 1 after the other down the page would be acceptable but not perfect. I simply don’t accept that something as powerful as WordPress can’t do this ( perhaps via a plugin ) and really don’t want to have to play with Joomla. That sucks!!
I design using Artisteer and have a very limited understanding of how wordpress actually works. I can create very nice looking and functioning sites but can’t get around this problem. Any ( very clear suggestions ) would be really useful but please don’t get over ‘codey’ and technical.
