showing categories in mobile version
-
The mobile phone version of my site homelesslaw.wordpress.com does not show post categories which are critical to the site’s usefulness. My site is pretty old; it has the Andreas09 theme. Do I need to change themes in order for mobile users to see the categories or is there something else I should do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi lindatashbook
The theme is too old and isn’t responsive. That’s why on the mobile screens it’s not visible.
Yes, you need to activate some latest themes. You can see a lot of cool responsive themes as you go to the Dashboard > Themes. Activate one of them, your problem would be solved.

I agree, the best course forward is to update your theme. You can take a look at the theme demos and the detailed setup instructions through wordpress.com/themes/
Of course, we will be here to help if you have any questions about this.

Thank you. I’ve just moved into an updated theme. I still don’t see the post categories, but at least the search box is now visible.

Hi lindatashbook
At first, set your latest blog to be visible on your homepage.
Set it here: go to Customize > Static Front page > Front page displays > Your Latest posts
Now You need to add category widget in it. Go to Appearance > Widget > Blog Sidebar, click on add a widget and add the Category widget.

Hope that helps.
