Showing Category Name in Post Title on Homepage

  I need help with this page.

  I am trying to get the homepage to display the category name with each post title, or between the post title and the exerpt. I don’t really mind how it shows up, but I would like it to show up somewhere on the homepage with each blog post before people click on it. I have been able to get the category name to show up very nicely below the post title once you have clicked on that post and gone in to view it, but I can’t get it to show up on the homepage itself. Please help, I am a total coding novice and trying to learn from the very beginning.
